To the Right Honorable the Earl of Shelburne
My Lord,
The humble petition of Sarah Matchand, the widow of the respectable but deceased Mr. Matchand, humbly sheweth,
That upon the death of my husband, I was left in a state of poverty and distress.
That I have been advised to take out letters of administration to his estate, but I am unable to pay the fees required for the same.
I therefore humbly pray that your Lordship will graciously be pleased to order that the fees be remitted or reduced, that I may be enabled to take out the necessary papers.
My case is just, and I hope that my widowhood and poverty will induce your Lordship to grant me this favor.
I remain, My Lord, your grateful and obedient servant,
Sarah Matchand
